Gold Coast Markets
Shopping at your local outdoor market has always been a bit of a novelty and perhaps something different to do on the weekend. In the past decade though, shopping at weekend markets has become an extremely popular and regular activity for locals and tourists alike. It is now a large and busy environment for small businesses and customers to mingle.
As we look around the Gold Coast for example we see a multitude of food and shopping markets and even twilight and evening markets popping up everywhere. The Gold Coast market scene includes brilliant food trucks, live music from local and upcoming artists and some amazing wares from local designers such as ourselves at Bamboozled Bamboo Clothing. As our weather also warms up, people are wanting to enjoy the sunshine and beach scene instead of an indoor shopping centre and are flocking to the Gold Coast markets.
Farmers markets are also a great way to buy fresh fruit, vegetable and produce directly from our local farms and supports the hard-working farmers of the region. The Gold Coast markets have farmers markets every single weekend and some are even on come rain, hail or shine!
For a great Gold Coast market every Sunday, the original Art and Craft on the Coast markets have been running for over 30 years. Managed by local born and bred people who first helped start the market all that time ago means friendliness and care go into running a good market. With a rotating timetable of areas that this market pops up in means the Gold Coast markets get around. From Broadbeach to Burleigh Heads and down to Coolangatta. The Design Collective markets and food truck events are also another locally run business that provide wonderful markets. The owners of this market have a big following and are primarily powered by their strong social media presence and of course good old fashioned ‘word of mouth’. They have their events pop up all over the place from the Gold Coast to Brisbane and even Northern NSW which gives variety for vendors and shoppers. To follow where they will be next Click Here.
If you find yourself just past the border of Queensland and NSW there is beautiful place by the beach called Salt Village near Kingscliff. On the 3rd Saturday of every month you can find the Salt Village Markets. Set up in the central park there is an array of local designers selling their hand made clothing, shoes, jewellery and wares. Food vendors, coffee and a stage with live music as well as jumping castles and kids’ activities makes for a great family day out.
The Gold Coast market scene is a buzzing and fun yet casual way to enjoy the outdoors and of course support local businesses. You never know what treasures you may find. Come and enjoy a Gold Coast market this weekend!
